CIRKEL
THE CIRKEL DOOR HANDLE IS A UNIQUE BUT PURE & SIMPLE GEOMETRY DESIGN
CIRCLE FORM
the door cylinder is a pure circle.
the circumference of the circle = a pure stainless steel cylinder. the door spindle is contained inside at the centre
AXIS
the door handle is supported through the circles axis.
SUSPEND
a stainless steel pin enables door handle to suspend above the circle form. this enables the elements of the handle to be separated and viewed as pure forms.
Different materials are applied to the centre of the door handle. each of these materials effect how the door handle relates to the door & the rooms furnishings. this creates differing experiences for the user.
1- brushed stainless steel
2- timber
3- glass
4- mesh stainless steel
5- led
it is the design intent that these centre options can be marketed as a unique aspect of the handle design.
these centre options also provide the customer with a choice.
as the inserts at the centre are all the same size, they would “cup” into place and would not be costly to provide.
Options
option 5 – explores the idea of placing a light within the centre (back & front).
this would have a switch or sensor so that it would illuminate at night.
the design intent is that this would be a both visually interesting / unique feature but would also have a practical purpose.
that is to enable the user to easily see the handle in the dark. this could possibly be used for emergency lighting.
